Star Wars Rare Pairs 2019 Letter!

Hello loveliest of creators,

Thanks for agreeing to write or draw me a thing! I'm really looking forward to it!

I do not want you to feel at all limited by the letter. I've come up with a few prompts I think might be interesting, but they are suggestions, one possible starting point. I'm very, very interested in your take on any of these, so write your heart out! Ignore the prompts entirely!

For shippy fic, any rating is fine, from the hand-holdingiest of G to some hot and heavy E. For shippy Art, I'd prefer suggestive over explicit (for example: no genitalia, but hands under clothes or Conveniently Placed Items are fantastic).

Below are general art likes and prompts, general writing likes, what I like about each pairing and a few prompt ideas. Apologies, the pairing-specific prompt ideas are skewed towards writing, but let me reassure you that fanart is not only welcomed but encouraged.

Do Not Wants

Sad/Unhappy ending (wistful or longing or ambiguous is fine), Kidfic (presence of children is fine, children characters are fine, but the focus shouldn't be on parenting/childrearing), Pregnancy/Mpreg, ABO, humiliation, character bashing, Darkside AUs, main characters as children/teenagers, noncon, cheating/adultery, ageplay or infantilization. Writing Likes

• Canon-Divergent AUs: What if things had gone differently? There's so much rich depth in the SW universe, I love fics that explore the might-have-beens.
• Modern AUs: I love a modern AU that shows some thought in drawing out canon parallels, lets me find the easter eggs of how Star Wars concepts are translated into day to day life
• Themes: competence porn, found family, people being good to each other in bad situations, affectionate banter, food as love and connection

• For art, I prefer no explicit genitalia, though suggestive is absolutely fine!
• Whatever your style is, I'm excited to see it, black and white, funky colors, comic style, all welcome!
• The characters in their own canon setting (a Jedi at the Jedi Temple, etc…)
• The characters exploring a canon setting not their own
• A quiet moment cuddling
• A goofy "selfie" style
• AU! - I'd love to see your take on a modern AU (what are the characters doing?), or a fantasy AU (gonna FIGHT A DRAGON?), cyberpunk, steampunk, 1920's-style Great Gatsby!verse, really, I'll probably enjoy it!

Prequel Trilogy

Obi-Wan Kenobi/Owen Lars/Beru Whitesun

What I love: Owen and Beru save Obi-Wan from himself. Desert Hermit gets brought into a loving family. Baby Luke gets away with NOTHING and grows up with three parents.

Specific Prompts:

• Tatooine is a dangerous place, Obi-Wan needs to step in to keep the Lars family safe...he finds it hard to leave, after that.
• Tatooine is a dangerous place. Obi-Wan underestimated how hard it would be to survive here, and Owen and Beru need to step in to keep the dumb offworlder from killing himself.
• Tatooine is a dangerous place...and a single man who knows how to take care of himself is a CATCH. Hermit Ben receives a steady stream of callers, much to his dismay. It's drawing too much attention. Owen and Beru offer him a spot in their marriage, so he can stay close but still under the radar.

Pairing-specific comment: Including Baby Luke is an exception to my kidfic DNW. I would still prefer that parenting-related feelings not be the major plot of the fic, it is okay if they feature more prominently here.

Bail Organa/Breha Organa/Obi-Wan Kenobi

What I love: Space Royalty and their Jedi Lover! A loving couple adopts a lonely man.

Specific Prompts:

• Pre-Order 66, Obi-Wan spends some time on Alderaan, just taking a break.
• Pre-Order 66, Breha askes Obi-Wan to look after Bail in Coruscant, she's worried he's working too hard, and he could really use a break...
• Post-Order 66, Obi-Wan goes to Alderaan, and Bail and Breha come up with a better plan for his future than hiding in the desert…

Pairing-specific comment: Including Baby Leia (and Luke, depending on how AU you go) is an exception to my kidfic DNW. I would still prefer that parenting-related feelings not be the major plot of the fic, it is okay if they feature more prominently here.

Bail Organa/Breha Organa

What I love: Space Royalty! Arranged marriage slowly turning into love! Duty and obligation and love across long distances. Space Politics!

Specific Prompts:

• Tell me about the early days of their arranged marriage, how they moved from being friends to falling in love.
• Give me the two of them competently navigating difficult space politics - either domestic on Alderaan, or trying to find a way through the Empire.
• A Bail and Breha (and maybe all of Alderaan) survives AU! How did it happen, and what part do they play with the full-on Rebellion?

Rogue One

Bodhi Rook/Storden Tonc

What I love: They flew Scarif together! Tonc decided that someone needed to keep this combat-newbie safe and it was going to be him! But then later, Bodhi snaps out an order and Tonc just trusts it, trusts him

Specific Prompts

• Tonc, the battle-hardened soldier of the rebellion, has a crush and it is the worst thing to ever happen to him.
• They both live, but one or both are injured, and the other feels guilty
• That sweet sweet competence porn, surprising each other with their skills

Cassian Andor/Jyn Erso/Bodhi Rook

What I love: They fill in the gaps with each other - Bodhi finds honesty and openness easier, Jyn has a fierceness and fire, Cassian brings loyalty and self-sacrifice.

Specific Prompts:

• Give me any version of two of them being an established couple with a massive shared crush
• All of them have issues with intimacy/letting people in, how do they work through that with each other?
• Mission fic! The three of them are just tearing stuff up and having a good time.

Pairing-specific DNW: Any dynamic where two are the "primary" partnership, and the third one is a secondary partner

Davits Draven/Antoc Merrick

What I love: Spymaster and the Hotshot, there's just something compelling about that combination. I love the space they exist in too, that pre-ANH time where the baby rebellion is still finding its feet.

Specific Prompts:

• They met when they were both much younger, Republic Intelligence sending Draven on a mission where he runs into the young Defense Force pilot Merrick
• Draven makes a call that Merrick disagrees with - how do they resolve it?
• Draven is a skittish ball of overly-paranoid spy right after he defects from the Empire. Merrick is determined to make friends.

Original Trilogy

Lando Calrissian/Leia Organa/Han Solo

What I love: Han and Lando's Rocky history runs right into Han and Leia's passionate relationship, betrayal and loyalty all tangled up in people that really do love each other

Specific Prompts:

• Leia and Lando work together to get Han back from Carbonite, and they're both really in love with him. What does that space between them look like? How does it get resolved?
• Lando takes their time at Cloud City as a chance to court them both (into bed)
• Post ROTJ, figuring out the future together.

Leia Organa/Han Solo/Wedge Antilles

What I love: Han and Leia we have from canon, two people with chemistry and a lot of feelings. Leia and Wedge are loyal to the Rebellion, and there's a potential for interesting fealty stuff between the two of them. They understand duty, devotion. Han and Wedge are both Corellian, they understand each other's pasts. That mix is fascinating to me.

Specific Prompts:

• Han and Wedge have a history, they're both VERY surprised when Han shows up at the Rebellion. This comes up after Han and Leia get together.
• Leia and Wedge have a comfortable friends-with-benefits wartime understanding, which gets upended when Leia goes and falls in ill-advised love with Han.
• Han and Leia have a mutual crush on Wedge, and decide to do something about it.

Wedge Antilles/Luke Skywalker

What I love: Wedge is who Luke could have been, if the Jedi life didn't take him. There's a fascinating interplay of heroism, loyalty, duty, and expectations

Specific Prompts:

• Wedge and Luke after ANH - the two survivors coming together, finding the other person that understood what it was like to fly against a monster and live
• Wedge and Luke after ESB - Wedge thought Luke was dead, and finding out that he had basically deserted is an emotional trip.
• Wedge and Luke after ROTJ - What does that fireside handshake hug turn into?

Lando Calrissian/Luke Skywalker

What I love: They met each other at their most vulnerable moment, Lando after losing his city, Luke after losing his hand, both of them with futures that are now scrambled instead of certain.

Specific Prompts:

• Lando visits Luke in the medbay post-ESB. What does that conversation look like? (Emotional makeouts? I'm always down for some good "let's forget everything that went wrong" makeouts)
• Post-ROTJ - Lando just wants to get back to being a businessman but he keeps getting sucked into Luke's Jedi Shenanigans.
• For "reasons" (acceptance into a Force-Sensitive community, political machinations, to avoid a different, worse marriage - feel free to get creative), post-original trilogy Luke needs to get married, and decides he'd rather marry a friend.

In-Universe Crossovers

Bodhi Rook/Luke Skywalker:

What I love: Two fundamentally decent-hearted young men, with a surprising amount of parallels - pilots, from a desert world, not raised in power, tied together by the death star. There's also some delicious tension: Luke the shining hero, Bodhi the scruffy defector.

Specific prompts:

• An AU where Bodhi lives, and Luke is curious about the people involved with getting the Death Star plans.
• They work together on a mission
• What Bodhi knows of Jedha helps Luke, the growing young Jedi.

Cassian Andor/Shara Bey/Kes Dameron

What I love: Something about this gruff wounded spy being adopted by these cheerful competent folks just warms my heart, I want them all very happy together.

Specific Prompts

• Pre-Rogue One - It's fuzzy when exactly Kes and/or Shara come to the Rebellion, it could be interesting to have Cassian hook up with them when he's mostly a spy.
• The war is over and everyone's struggling to find their place, Cassian finds himself visiting Yavin IV more and more...
• As a twist, for some reason Cassian has a relationship with either Kes or Shara before they met each other. Give me a shake up on which pairing is the established relationship, and who the newcomer is. How did Cassian get together with either Shara or Kes? How does he feel about the newcomer?

Pairing specific comment: I know the existence of baby Poe comes right up against my kidfic DNW. I still don't want fic focusing on pregnancy/parenting, but I am okay with the presence of pregnancy/parenting stuff coming up as a more important part of the story.

Lando Calrissian/Bodhi Rook

What I love: Two people that were just trying to do their job until they couldn't anymore. The reluctant heroes club. Also Lando is charming and considerate and Bodhi could use more of that in his life.

Specific Prompts:

• Pre-Rogue One, Bodhi's shuttle winds up in the middle of whatever Lando's current business scheme is.
• Post-ESB, Lando meets with a Bodhi that survived Scarif - what does that look like? Where's Lando's head at? What's Bodhi up to?
• Canonically, Bodhi's pretty good at cards. This surprises Lando.

Wedge Antilles/Bodhi Rook

What I love: Defector buddies! Wedge has a certain solidness to him that could work really well against Bodhi's more nervous nature. Also Rogue One / Rogue squadron parallels.

Specific prompts:

• Defector Club: Feel free to throw in some other defectors, but give me ex-Imps bashing the empire together.
• Wedge winds up the minder for a Bodhi who survived Scarif, trying to get him settled in with the Rebellion.
• Wedge and Bodhi, after the Death Star, both have some heavy losses between them. They connect over that.

Wedge Antilles/Bodhi Rook/Luke Skywalker

What I love: Pilot ship! You've got Luke, wunderkid pilot and baby Jedi, bright and shining and heroic. You've got Bodhi, everyman workign pilot turned hero (who presumably survives Scarif, shhh). And you've got Wedge, career fighter pilot who is very good but maybe never got that bright moment. And they are all really decent people.

Specific Prompts:

• After the War, Bodhi and Wedge manage to settle into something solid and under the radar, Luke is on his own with the jedi thing and dying under the responsibility. Wedge and Bodhi give him a break.
• Luke and Wedge fall together after Yavin, Bodhi has a massive crush on the both of them. It's mutual, but unfortunately, Luke and Wedge think that Bodhi is already in a triad, with Jyn and Cassian.
• Mission fic, let them all be competent badasses together.

Shara Bey/Kes Dameron

What I love: A loving Space Latino family! A badass pilot mom! People that love each other very much, even through difficulty, and are a bit silly about it.

Specific prompts:

• How did they meet? What drew them to each other?
• Taking a quiet moment together in a Rebellion that keeps pulling them apart.
• Post-ROTJ, just being so happy that they survived. Maybe a little suprised? Sharing new scars as they figure out what their life together is going to look like after the war.

Pairing specific comment: I know the existence of baby Poe comes right up against my kidfic DNW. I still don't want fic focusing on pregnancy/parenting, but I am okay with the presence of pregnancy/parenting stuff coming up as a more important part of the story.

I'm doing something a little different in this section, no prompts (most of the time, I feel like the ship itself is the prompt!), just a bit of a ramble about how I see them. But please, even more with these, I've included them because I'm excited to see where your imagination takes you!

High-Tech Battle Droid Prototype Built By Arakyd/Galaxy's First Steam-Powered Hipster Android: This one just made me laugh. How did they meet? What are the first impressions?

Male Jedi Survivor Who Joins The Rebellion/Male Separatist Who Also Joins The Rebellion: All the politics, the histories, all the possibilities for chasm-wide differences set apart for a larger cause. Or not?

Original Idealistic Resistance Pilot/Original Jaded former-Rebellion Pilot: It's gotta be so hard to think you've won the war, and in your lifetime, have it pop back up again. How does the Rebellion pilot handle it? How do they react to seeing idealism again?

Original Imperial Engineer Furious the Empire Destroyed Scarif Archive/Original Rebel Recruiter: They were on the fence but then the EMPIRE DID WHAT? Blueprints are sacred, people. How are you supposed to build things without BLUEPRINTS!

Original Jedi Telepath/Original Non-Telepathic Detective Who Pretends to be Psychic: Look basically I want a mindreading Jedi to meet the in-universe equivalent of Shawn Spencer from Psych and then they...solve crimes together? Kiss? I'm not sure what happens next.

Original Reality Holovid Star Trying to Sleep With a Jedi For Ratings/Original Baffled Jedi: Another one that made me laugh. Celebrity! Drama! The Jedi Code!

Original Overworked Rebellion Therapist/Original Overworked Rebellion Medic: We all agree that these folks would be VERY overworked with all the trauma and the shooting, yeah? I've got a soft spot for worn out service professionals finding some comfort in each other.

Poe Dameron/Original Male Ad Exec Turned Resistance Propagandist: I'm so interested in this! What's Poe's relationship to his own fame like? What's this former Ad Exec's take on Poe?

Original Female Crimson Dawn Enforcer/Original Female Pyke Syndicate Sentinel - A Romeo/Juliet of Criminal Empires, with the added complication of what it means to be a woman in these organizations. How intriguing! Yes please give it to me. :D
