Little Black Dress Exchange
I feel like this exchange was made for me! I'm a happy multishipper with a love of rarepairs, I love the creativity this encourages. Below I've talked about my general, "What I love about the character" and some thoughts on how I see them being in relationships.
Please don't feel constrained by these thoughts. I'm flexible in this, as most things. Feel free to just review the DNWs and go for it. But if you, like me, enjoy a little more information, read on!
If any of this is unclear, or if you just want more info, please feel free to ask for clarification through the mods! I welcome it.
For shippy fic, any rating is fine, from the hand-holdingiest of G to some hot and heavy E. For shippy Art, I'd prefer suggestive over explicit (for example: no genitalia, but hands under clothes or Conveniently Placed Items are fantastic).
Fandoms, Request Specific Opt-Ins and DNW, and Prompts
Do Not Wants
Sad/Unhappy ending (wistful or longing or ambiguous is fine), Kidfic (presence of children is fine, children characters are fine, but the focus shouldn't be on parenting/childrearing), Pregnancy/Mpreg, ABO, women in the submissive role if in a relationship with a man (okay for F/F partnerships, or men subbing with women), humiliation, character bashing, Darkside AUs, main characters as children/teenagers, noncon, cheating/adultery, ageplay or infantilization.
Note: Gundam Wing has an exception to main characters as teenagers, however I would prefer no explicit fic be written about them if they are written as teens - feel free to age them up or fade to black.
Art and Story Likes
Story Likes:
- Canon-Divergent AUs: What if things had gone differently? I love fics that explore might-have-beens.
- Themes: competence porn, found family, people being good to each other in bad situations, affectionate banter, food as love and connection
- Smut: Not needed, but if you feel like including it, I enjoy both penetrative and non-pentrative sex, toppy women, switching, explicit discussion of consent, skin hunger and lots of touching, hair brushing and pulling, massages turning from platonic to sexual, laughter and things going not-quite-as-planned, lingerie, rope bondage, honor bondange, pinning people to things, having sex in nontraditional (ie: not a bed) sorts of places.
Art Likes:
- For art, I prefer no explicit genitalia, though suggestive is absolutely fine!
- Whatever your style is, I'm excited to see it, black and white, funky colors, comic style, all welcome!
- The characters in their own canon setting (a Jedi at the Jedi Temple, etc…)
- The characters exploring a canon setting not their own
- A quiet moment cuddling
- A goofy "selfie" style
- AU! - I'd love to see your take on a modern AU (what are the characters doing?), or a fantasy AU (gonna FIGHT A DRAGON?), cyberpunk, steampunk, 1920's-style Great Gatsby!verse, really, I'll probably enjoy it!
General Opt-Ins
These aren't things I definitely want, but they are things I am neutral towards, or even enjoy, that are often on other folks DNW list. If you enjoy them, here is your explicit permission to write the thing!
- AUs, including Modern AUs - I am completely down for a setting change for any of my LBD characters. So long as it avoids my no teenagers DNW, I welcome seeing them as pirate ship captains or greek gods or tenure-track college professors, or...go wild, really! I love it in particular when people write settings near and dear to their heart.
- Generation gaps in ships, provided both are adults. For example, in my Star Wars ships, I welcome Origtrig characters paired with Sequel Trilogy characters.
Fandoms, Request Specific Opt-Ins and DNW, and Prompts
Below are the requests, divided by fandom. First are general Opt-Ins and DNW for the fandom as a whole, then specific dresses and ideas I have there.
Star Wars: Rogue One
Opt-In
- Characters from the rest of the Star Wars Movie!verse (all the trilogies and Solo)
- Characters from the Mandalorian
- From Legends EU: Winter Retrac, Mara Jade, and Talon Karrde
Bodhi Rook
What I love about Bodhi: I love that Bodhi is a Star Wars everyman. I love that he was in an impossible situation against impossible odds, and he still tried to grit his teeth and do the right thing. I love thinking about the sort of core personality that would lead to that - little bit of a risk taker, a conscience that won't be quiet.
Bodhi and Love: I could see this working out a lot of different ways, largely depending on where we are in the canon timeline. Is he still with the Empire, sort of hating himself, but also just a guy living his life? Is it an au where he lives and is really traumatized? Is it an AU where the trauma didn't happen and he has some healing? Depending on where we set the story, I could see him as pursuing, pursued, alert, oblivious, a halfway decent communicator, or absolutely terrible at speaking his feelings. And I sort of love that it could play out all those different ways!
Bodhi Pairing DNW:
- Cassian (I love them! But there is a lot of fic already - It is fine to have Bodhi/Cassian/someone else)
- Palpatine
- Orson Krennic
Cassian Andor
What I love about Cassian: Space Spy! Star wars pragmatist! Here's a guy that's willing to do what needs to be done, as long as he thinks it's right. I have a feeling he's justified a lot of things as right over the year. He doesn't like what he does, but he's competent at it, and he's clearly well-respected around base.
Cassian and Love: Options! Pre-canon, I could see him having a casual thing with a fellow operative, something to pass the time and soothe the aches. Or maybe something more serious, an attempt at genuine connection that does not come easily to him, I would imagine. In an AU where he lives, I see him possibly being more proud of what he does, and better able to connect with the world around him.
Cassian Pairing DNW:
- Bodhi (same as above! With the same exception, Cassian/Bodhi/someone else welcome!)
- Jyn (Same as Bodhi - Please feel free to write Cassian/Jyn/someone else)
- Palpatine
Jyn Erso
What I love about Jyn: Guarded, stubborn, competent woman. She's been hurt so badly, so many people she loves have left her, she's got an abandonment issues streak a mile wide. And despite all that, she throws herself into a cause, rallies others as a leader, and forms genuine connections that have real emotional value during the movie.
Jyn and Love: Pre-canon, I see her as a ball of trauma and abandonment issues. Does she find a genuine connection with someone, and maybe that kicks off an AU? Does she find some temporary comfort in connections where she carefully controls all the factors she can? Once canon happens, if she had lived, I can absolutely see her building on the connections she's developed to make something deeper happen. Who would she do that with?
Jyn Pairing DNW:
- Cassian (I love them! But there is a lot of fic already - Please do feel free to write Jyn/Cassian/someone else)
- Palpatine
- Orson Krennic
Star Wars Original Trilogy
Opt-In
- Characters from the rest of the Star Wars Movie!verse (all the trilogies, Rogue One, and Solo)
- Characters from the Mandalorian
- From Legends EU: Winter Retrac, Mara Jade, and Talon Karrde
Lando Calrissian
What I love about Lando: This is the man who gave up a life of crime to get his MBA and try to run a successful business. I love that he's a pragmatist with a loyal streak. I love that he's full of charm and wit and enjoys the finer things in life. I love that he relates to the people we see him interact with so differently (charm with Leia, care with Luke, banter with Han), but so well.
Lando and Love:I generally see Lando as a guy that loves pretty easily, and all along the spectrum from casual fling to serious relationship. I can see him using relationships to bring people joy, to make a hard situation a little easier, or just to help someone (and himself!) relax a bit.
Lando Pairing DNW:
- Darth Vader
- Palpatine
- Kylo Ren
Wedge Antilles
What I love about Wedge: I love that he's a through-line through the OT. I love that he's a fairly normal guy, in the mix with all these high-powered folks. He's a defector from the Empire, a talented pilot, and we get to see him grow more and more experienced as the movies progress.
Wedge and Love: If Wedge gets involved with one of the bright lights of the trilogy - like Luke or Leia or Mon Mothma - I imagine that he has a pretty hard time reconciling all that they are with his role as a pilot. And even aside from that, he's in a war - he's probably well familiar with loving and losing. He's ripe for some angst, but also happiness, if he finds someone that makes him happy and figures out a way to keep them.
Wedge Pairing DNW:
- Darth Vader
- Palpatine
- Kylo Ren
Luke Skywalker
What I love about Luke: Sunshine and death! I like that he is a very dangerous human with access to very dangerous powers, wrapped around a core of kindness and goodness. I love how human he is as he struggles, how he tries and fails, but keeps trying. I love how easily he connects with people around him, and how important those connections are to him.
Luke and Love: Younger Luke is so open to the world, I could see him falling in love easily, and giving his heart away almost recklessly. As he gets older, and more powerful, I imagine that connection gets harder. He's more aware of the damage he can do with the power that he has. Relationships get harder to negotiate, but, for exactly that reason, more meaningful too.
Luke Pairing DNW:
- Palpatine
- Snoke
Leia Organa
What I love about Leia: Angry and unbroken. She's someone who comes from tremendous comfort and luxury, gives some of it up voluntarily to join the fight, and gets the rest of it stripped away. Yet through all that loss she holds her head high, she knows how to be a symbol and a figurehead. And then, later on, all she worked for falls apart and she...pulls everything together and fights on. I love her grit, her strength, and her love.
Leia and Love: I think navigating romance has always been tricky for Leia, because she's always had so much power and so little room for vulnerability. Whether it's back when she was the princess of a still-living Alderaan, to all the way further down her timeline, when she's holding the resistance together. How does she navigate that? Who does she chose to do it with? What appeals to her about them that makes them worth it?
Leia Pairing DNW:
- Palpatine
- Snoke
- Han (I love them, but there's a lot of fic already, please feel free to write me Leia/Han/Someone Else!)
The Mandalorian
Opt-In
- Characters from the Star Wars Movie!verse (all the trilogies, Rogue One, and Solo)
- From Legends EU: Winter Retrac, Mara Jade, and Talon Karrde
Cara Dune:
What I love about Cara: I loved her from her first fight with The Mandalorian - a strong woman! Who can go toe to toe with our protag! Who looks amazing! And then my love kept growing - oh, she fought in the Rebellion, oh, she ran away as the army turned into a police force, oh, she keeps her tattoos showing even though they're the red flag to any Imperial bull.
Cara and Love: I don't really have a clear idea here, so please, let your imagination run wild! I want her to have a nice thing (or several nice things).
Cara Pairing DNW:
- Snoke
- Palpatine
- Kylo Ren
Gundam Wing
Oh man, this was my first fandom back when I didn't know what shipping even was. I established my multishipping preferences early, hunting down fic on geocities webrings for rarepairs.
Long story short, this is a nostalgia fandom for me. I don't have a ton of current knowledge, so apologies if my takes on characters are a little...to the left of how they're read by fandom. Please don't worry about it, write me a thing that you'd enjoy, I'll probably enjoy it too!
A note on the canon-verse: I know there were some movies, but I don't think I watched them. Or if I did, I don't really remember them. SO, stripmine them for content as you see fit, I'm fine with canon compliance to them, I'm fine with you chucking out that post-series canon entirely.
Note: I would prefer no explicit fic be written about characters if they are written as teens - feel free to age them up, set the fic post-canon, or fade to black.
No Pairing DNWs.
Quatre Raberba Winner
What I love about Quatre: A sweetheart with a ton of baggage and way too much responsibility on his shoulders. He's often the Designated Adult and very competent at building relationships…well, okay, competent as compared to his peers, which is not saying much.
Quatre and Love: Quatre seems like the sort of person who wants to give other people nice things, and maybe gives more than he should. Does he find someone that really needs his care? Someone who gives back? Does he find someone that helps him cut loose and relax for a bit? Options! I'm interested in the after-the-war time, as he becomes an adult. How do the relationships he formed young last?
Duo Maxwell:
"What I love about Duo:* The grim-humor, wisecracking reaper with a serious history and a serious side. Duo's struck me as very principled but he tries to hide it. It's not so important to him that other people know he's a good guy, but fundamentally, he is.
Duo and Love: Duo doesn't strike me as someone who has trouble connecting on the surface level, but might struggle with a more long-term thing. I'm also interested with the after-the-war time, as he becomes an adult. What choices does he make? What (or who) does he take with him from the war?
Discworld
Havelock Vetinari
What I love about Vetinari: Manipulator whose main goal is to keep things running. He's smart enough to stay on top of (mostly) everything, but he's still willing to learn, grow, and adapt. He's insufferable with his flare for the dramatic, but like all his other quirks, it works, and it keeps things running along (it's amazing how much the threat of a scorpion pit will accomplish).
Vetinari and Love: I do not think this man loves easily. And yet, throughout canon, he forms serious connections with people, and he lets himself learn from them, even if he never admits he's doing it. He learns to trust Sam Vimes, he goes to his scientist-prisoner Leonardo of Quirm when he needs a mental reset, he goes to the opera that Sybil throws and sees that there's more than one way to change the world. I think for romance and Vetinari, it would either be someone he trusts, or someone he hopes to get something out of. I'm excited for either of these stories, however you chose to write this competent drama-mongerer.
Pairing DNW
Please do not have Vetinari be the cause of Sam/Sybil breaking up. Consensual polyam with one or both is good, the pairing never getting together is good, one or the other being a sad widow(er) is sad, but still good. Or pair him with someone else entirely, and let Sam and Sybil be happy in the background.
I'm so excited in this world of possibilities to see what you create! Many thanks and happy writing/drawing,
Sass
